The November Glossy Box

Its December next week....I hope I'm not the only one freaking out about this? Zip presents bought, uni work deadlines fast approaching and still not a glimpse of snow. On the plus side, all (well almost) moustache related facial prickles are history in a few days and I saw the Coco-Cola Truck with my Plus1 girlies yesterday and got a Christmas Starbucks cup so am feeling a tad more festive.

Anyway I've realised I've not told you lovely lot about my November issue of Glossy Box! The little bundle arrive a few weeks back and I've had loads of fun experimenting with the skin care products. The hand cream smells delicious and couldn't have come at a better time with this cold windy weather making my hands more appropriately fitting for an 80 year old. They're all nice, soft and pretty again now. I also discovered another little gem this week in the form of a Carmine Box. Exactly the same principles of the glossy box but they only use a set five brands currently and are more based towards make-up based products. I'm very tempted to try! Mummy? - subscription for my Christmas yes?

I'm also loving the nail transfer kit included in this months box. Heaps of my fellow bloggers and pals have now joined up to Glossy Box and I've seen the results of their extravagant nails - they look fab. Much better than my usual marker pen efforts! Unfortunately my work has a zero nail polish rule so I'm waiting for a few days off to try the kit out. I was given a similar set of wraps for my birthday a few months back by Minx and they worked really well so hopefully these will live up to their rep.

Happy Christmas shopping all, TSV xxx

Blue Steel.

So today we finally got our photoshoot for part of our coursework at uni done and despite my stressing and belief that it would be an absolute train wreak....it all actually went rather wonderfully!

We were lucky enough to have a friend who runs a vintage clothing store in Aberdeen and so picked out a few  pieces for the shoot from there. We also had a dabble in various wardrobes of ours and pulled a few other looks together. The shoot was all based around a little MG Midget and a story was built up around it - sort of damsel in distress type scenario. My incredibly ugly pal Morven (I'm kidding of course - shes ridiculously attractive and super talented) helped out hugely and agreed to model or us.

My hectic morning of being a car polisher slash hair stylist slash make-up artist was a little bizarre but I had so much fun and the look came out exactly how I wanted it too (always a nice thing). Our photographers worked tremendously hard throughout the shoot. We had a very short space of time to get pictures with natural lighting and of course the very unpredictable weather. My rather large beast of a dog was also a slight distraction for one or two members of the group.....some were a little terrified and others were directing his poses rather than our model's....tbh she didn't really need much guidance luckily!

Should hopefully have the final shots by the end of the week but I've included a few snaps to satisfy your curiosity in the mean time. (Taken on a phone so please excuse the quality although there not too shabby)

Check out my lovely pals and stylists, Megan and Alannah who helped put on the shoot today.

I'm all tired and excited out now so am off for some much needed zzzzzzzzzz.

Covering Your Bases - Peaches & Cream

I should be a spokesperson for Chanel right now. Its ridiculous. This little treasure has been around for a fair while now but its a favourite in my make-up bag. Smelling lightly of white peaches - its truly scrumptious and smells nothing like you've spent an afternoon with your head in a vat of jam.(Do you even get peach jam? hmm must investigate).

BLANC DE CHANEL acts like a primer, it can be used before your foundation to add a radiance or blend it in to lighten and give the skin a healthy glow. The sheer illuminator fluid is wonderfully light and soft on the skin (I'm a hater of heavy serums and gels) and keeps your foundation looking flawless all day. Done.

Cupcakes and.....facial hair?

So I'm pretty sure most of us ladies have noticed a sudden popularity with a bit of upper lip fuzz on our men. I'm usually all in favour of a little facial scruff on a man but I'm definitely not a lover of the tashe! However, I am all up for a good cause and especially when  some support comes in the form of these delicious cupcakes from the oh so sweet Bibi's Bakery (Could sit and eat my own body weight in their icing - yes I would be sick slash obese but its that good!)

Movember is almost half way through so donate away if you are so kind :)

Budge over Snow White.

Feeling rather gloomy about the grey skies that appear briefly between the pitch black at the moment.  One of my lucky pals skipped off (well flew actually) to Dubai today for 10days - this is adding to my good fetal hugely!

Some winter sunshine is definitely in order asap. I decided to go with a mildly cheaper option to brighten my mood however. Chanel's Christmas 2011 Collection is something I'm really excited about . The tones in this years palette all suit a very porcelain skintone - perfect for me!

One of the loveliest pieces in the collection is the Lumiere Sculptee highlighting powder for £46. The powder has an intricate design moulded onto its surface, which was inspired by a belt buckle worn by Coco Chanel herself. A mould was made of the buckle and is now being used to add a little something special to the your compact.

My favorite purchases however is the Rouge Allure lipstick in Famous for £24. The blue tones through the red look great against pale skin(loving mine for once!) I was a little sceptical of the red as usually they have much warmer hues to them and look a little lost on me but this one I love! The lipstick also works as a stain (and last all day with one application) if you want a slightly more subtle look. I'll post some pictures up soon of my Snow White look (I'm currently sporting a sniffly nose like everyone else).

Tie it all up with a bow.

Currently on consolidation week from uni and so of course am doing my very important advertising coursework on orange juice due in next week.....hmmm maybe not! I have decided instead to be much more productive with my time and have a rummage through my wardrobe in search of some winter warmers - its insane how chilly it is up here! Anyway I found these little Moschino boots creeping away in the back.

I've had them for about 3 years now and never actually worn them. I think the heel is a little understated for my liking and I think a night out here would be the end of them but either way they do look very pretty on. The shoe itself is made from soft black suede with a leather/rubber sole. Thick velvet ribbons are attached at the heel - perfect to be tied up into a big sumptuous bow. Maybe someday soon ill let them out for a wander...or maybe one of you lovely lot would like to?
